New York Fashion Week 2018

New York Fashion Week is officially in full swing, so I thought I’d share a few of my own fashion illustrations and sketches of the best looks I’ve seen so far.  Fashion Weeks are my favorite, because they offer a preview of the new trends and pieces coming up in the next season.  They can also give you a glimpse of the new ways designers, makeup artists, and hair stylists are experimenting each season, and, with all the enviable street style looks blowing up your feeds, who can’t help but feel inspired?

Ulla Johnson Winter 2018– Graphite

Personally, whenever I see a look I love, I’ll sketch it.  To the left are a couple quick sketches I did of my favorite looks from the Ulla Johnson Winter 2018 show.  Keep in mind, these were just quick sketches, so they’re a bit (extremely) rough, but it’s still enough to give a basic idea of what the garments look like.  The show was filled with whimsical frocks and jumpsuits, lots of frills, floral and lacy details, shimmery mesh fabrics, (faux) furs, and velvet, with each look having its own modern take on these classics.  Each model sported an effortless, yet ultra-chic middle-parted crown braid and natural, dewy makeup with a flick of glittery eyeliner to bring it all together.  To see the full show, click here.

Tom Ford Fall 2018– Colored Pencil and Glitter

To the  right is an illustration I did of two models backstage at the Tom Ford Fall 2018 show.  The whole show, filled with thick, leather headbands, animal prints, sequins, ginormous, sparkling hoops, texturized mullet updos, and bold eye makeup, was a definite flashback to the ’80s.  Every model had a glow-y, neutral face with thick, black eyeliner rimming their eyes and dark, glossy eyeshadow slicked across their lids.  They also flaunted matching leather headbands and messy ’80s updos to dress the look up.  To see the full show, click here.

Overall, NYFW is off to a great start and I can’t wait to see all the new and exciting looks that are to come.  With a whole series off fashion weeks stacked up ahead off us, be sure to come back soon to see and hear the latest  on and off the runways.

P.S. Aaaahhhh!!!  The 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeonchang are finally here again, so let me know if you want a post on that in the near future!
