Recently, Sakura of America and Teen Ink Magazine hosted a contest for pieces using oil pastels to explore the theme “Modern America.” I decided to create a piece incorporating oil pastels for the foreground, watercolor for the background, ink for the words, and some glitter for embellishment. My piece depicts several women from different backgrounds and ethnicities united with the statue of liberty to represent modern America with people fighting together for a better future. I am so grateful for everyone that voted and feel extremely honored to be the Grand Prize Winner.
After winning, I received a Koi Watercolors 18 PC Tube Set, Koi Watercolors Studio Sketch Box with 2 Brushes, Koi Coloring Brush Gift Set, Cray-Pas Expressionist 50 PC Set, Permapaque 20 Piece Gift Set, Sumo Grip Block Eraser B300 Size, Sumo Grip 0.9 mm Pencil, Zentangle Black Tile Set, Pigma Micron PN 6 PC Set, Pigma All Black Set, Pigma Professional Brush 3 PK Black, and a 1-Year Subscription to Teen Ink Magazine. I am so excited to get to try out these products and look forward to making more art with them in the future. Thanks again to Teen Ink for hosting this contest and Sakura for the amazing supplies! Also, thank you so much to all of you guys who voted!
